We offer a variety of training options including day training, stay & train, private lessons, rally obedience, and behavior issue solutions. Training At Optimum Dog

Optimum Dog offers three comprehensive training programs to help your dog friend become the best version of themselves. Our programs are designed to cater to different needs and skill levels, ensuring that your dog receives the best training possible. Whether you're looking to teach basic obedience or advanced tricks, we've got you covered.

Private Lessons and Coaching

Individual sessions designed to help you accomplish set goals. 45-90 minute sessions depending on material. Multi dog appointments available. All clients start with behavioral assessment session where we discuss and design a program that will work for your goals and your dog. $75-145 Range. Standard Private Sessions $105 each. Packages available. Schedule Tuesday through Saturdays. Some evening appointments available. Private lesson regular participants are invited to group sessions at training center and area parks or public spaces to meet further training goals and practice skills in changing environments. Fido Fit & Training

Day training drop off available Tuesday & Thursdays

Limited availability on Wednesday or Fridays

Circuit type training for dogs working on cot time, treadmill or slat mill, social time, leash work and obedience. Rotations through these segments throughout the day helps your dog or puppy become hooked on a structured environment. And yes we do this for little dogs and big dogs alike! We have special measures to protect your small sized dogs and create proper play structures to keep them safe! Your dog's safety is of the utmost importance to us!

Stay, Train and Be Fit Full Training Immersion Program

Fully immersive program where your dog stays with us and is trained much like day training but we train in the evenings as well. Crate training, leash work, e-collar off lead work, aggression or behavior modification all included. Each dog that enters this program is different and we meet with you to set realistic goals and a training plan. Limited availability for these training enrollments so book early and let us know your needs. Start with your first behavioral assessment session and we can discuss your goals. Going on a vacation? Let us do the work and train your dog or pup while you are away! Starts at $125 per day.

Behavioral Modification, Obedience, Puppy Foundations

Owner,  Jennifer Hinton has been training for over 30 years. What began as a curiosity and hobby, working with canines has been part of Jennifer's life since she grew up around a family veterinary clinic. She has owned German Shepherds, Cattle Dogs, Jack Russells and Belgian Malinois as her personal dogs. She has worked extensive behavior cases for years for rescues including Northwest German Shepherd Rescue, Woof Project Rescue, Happy Tails Happy Homes and many other Northwest rescue organizations. She enjoys training in a balanced approach including all tools in the trainers toolbox. Private sessions, Immersion programs and Day Training programs available. Special workshops on E-collar usage, Preparing for Your Adopted Dog and Advanced Outdoor Obedience are available as well. Training available Tuesday through Saturdays.

Obedience, Puppy Development and Behavioral Modification

Augustus "Gus" Schubeck joined Optimum Dog after his enlistment with the United States Army. Gus continues to develop his career plans with the Army National Guard. He trains Tuesday through Saturday and enjoys working with the day training dogs, puppies and young rambunctious dogs finding their way. Gus owns two rescued Malinois dogs and group up with German Shepherds and Jack Russell Terriers. 

Nose Work & Tracking & Obedience with Charlie Engen

Interested in learning how your dog can use their nose to find specific things, scents or odors?

Group Rally Obedience Classes with Lisa Ford

Come join the fun with Lisa Ford an outstanding and experienced Rally Obedience Instructor and Competitor. Rally is positive obedience where you will learn different tasks or commands for your dog and will learn to work a patterned course with signs that tell you each move to make with your dog. From beginners to experienced dogs, join Lisa's Rally Class on Tuesdays!

5pm Beginner, 6pm Experienced and Private Lessons available also! $33.00 per class and great discounts on packages!

Canine Good Citizen Tests also available by appointment with Lisa Ford on Tuesdays!

Functional Obedience with Jill Missal 

Jill has worked with dogs her entire life starting with a pet care business at the young age of 9 and grew up handling Siberian Huskies! As a young adult she joined Search & Rescue. Since then she has validated five SAR dogs in Wilderness, Avalanche and USAR profiles. With two decades of experience she acquired her first Malinois and dedicated her efforts to training an all around Malinois, with a long list of titles, one of the most accomplished Mals in the USA. This list includes Grand Championship in Conformation, multiple obedience and rally titles including multiple Highs in Trial, three tracking titles and she is chasing a MOTCh and a Tracking Championship. Optimum Dog originated from Dietrich and Company, a dog obedience business owned by Jennifer Hinton-Schubeck in 1994. The company evolved in 2004 to focus on assisting troubled dogs with aggression issues, particularly those from shelters or rescue organizations. Optimum Dog relocated to Mount Vernon, WA in 2019 and expanded in 2021 with an additional training floor and office space. The team consists of dedicated trainers who offer a wide range of training programs and workshops, catering to the unique needs of each dog and their owners. Clients can book with individual trainers who are the best match for their goals by making an appointment.
